Alexander Ksendzovsky , MD PhD

Alex Ksendzovsky, MD, PhD directs a lab that combines electrophysiology and molecular techniques to study the fundamental mechanisms underlying cognition, epilepsy, movement disorders and psychiatric disease. To do this, his team leverages access to human intracranial recordings and resected tissue during brain surgery and numerous computational and experimental strategies to understand the pathophysiology of disease. Findings from patients are then translated into in vitro and in vivo models which are used to explore aberrant molecular mechanisms. The lab’s ultimate goal is to use the operating room and lab as a portal to improve our understanding of cognition, epilepsy, movement disorders and psychiatric disease in order to create new diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients.
